Giorgio Armani has collaborated with Academy Award nominated director, to dress Jessica Chastain for the much anticipated film; ‘A Most Violent Year’.
Set in New York City during winter in 1981 – the cities most dangerous and decaying year in history. The politically corrupt crime drama, which opens in the United States on December 31st (and globally throughout January and February 2015), is packed with unrestrained and morally crooked ladder climbers during one immigrant’s determined climb to the top.
Chastain, a long time friend of the house of Armani, plays Anna – a woman of great means with considerable taste. And is styled throughout the film by esteemed costume designer Kasia Walicka-Maimone.
Walicka-Maimone said that the Armani design team was very open minded to create new combinations of pieces from their archives. Along with timeless pieces from more recent collections. She said, “The plot takes place in the early 1980’s. Jessica’s friendship with the Armani family opened a door to a great collaboration.
“We met with Jessica and the Armani team in Milan. It was fascinating to have access to the Armani archives from the 80’s.”
Giorgio Armani said that Jessica Chastain is a very charming woman and I find that she always wears my clothes perfectly with great nonchalant ease. Further stating, “It was a high honor to collaborate with J.C. Chandor and Kasia Walicka-Maimone.
“This wonderful film project had great appeal to me because it is set in a time frame when women’s clothing was being revolutionized. Minimalism was a shocking new concept. The power suit was just beginning to find its way into the wardrobes of the most confident women.”
Giorgio Armani will also present the official premiere of the movie. Taking place in New York on December 7th, followed by an after party hosted by J.C Chandor, Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain at Armani Ristorante.
